Analysis blog for the Kenya Savannah Classic and the World Match Play Championship.

Hello again,

we lost ten points this week. We are in a slump at present and need to work our way out of it.

This coming week is the one before the Masters. We will be having only one or two selections this week as we will be concentrating on getting it right for Augusta.

The tournament in Kenya was very second rate and was hard to predict. All of the excitement was at the end with the play off between Daniel Van Tonder of South Africa and Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand. Two promising young golfers. van Tonder won the play off with a birdie on the third extra hole. Both Sam Horsfield and Callum Hill missed a putt on the final green to get in to the play off.

Our in play selection Justin Harding blew his three stroke lead and had a mediocre two over par final round. Very poor stuff! This tournament, in football terms, would be a league one level match. I do not think that we saw any world beaters this week but did see a number of journeymen.

In Texas, the crowds were back, many not wearing masks. I could not get my head around this format and could not pick a winner all week. Perhaps we just should have dutched the finalists from when it was last played? That was Kevin Kisner and Matt Kuchar? It also seems wise to dodge all of the favourites.

Viktoe Hovland was our original pick. But he lost his first two matches and so could not progress. The in play selection Kevin Streelman played OK but was beaten by a red hot Billy Horschel in the last sixteen.

The event was won by Billy Horschel. He beat Scottie Scheffler in the final.

By the way, Kisner did not make it out of the group stage but Kuchar made the semi finals, which would have landed a tasty place return on bets.

I will be back Tuesday PM with any initial selections for this coming week.

Good luck Martin
